Chinook
oil and gas field
Field:
Chinook Oil and Gas Field
Location: Carnarvon Basin
Top of HRDZ: 650 ms
Pull-up: Small
Intensity: Low
Amplitude Anomalies: Moderate
Area: Small
Data Degradation: Small
A
possible HRDZ lies to the north of the Chinook oil and gas field. It has been
identified by its bright amplitude, with underlying modest time pull-up (Fig.
16). The Chinook Field is probably full to spill. Although the Chinook anomaly
may not be a HRDZ per se, it could still be a hydrocarbon-related feature, such
as a buried carbonate mound or reef. Shallow anomalies like this are very rare
in the Carnarvon Basin, and when they overlie deeper structures, a model
involving hydrocarbon leakage should at least be considered.
