Cornea oil field, Browse Basin
Field:
Cornea Oil Field
Location: Browse Basin
Pull-up: Moderate
Top of HRDZ: 400 ms
Amplitude Anomalies: Moderate
Intensity: High
Data Degradation: High
The
Cornea Oil Field is located on the Yampi Shelf, in the northeastern Browse
Basin. The area is one of intense hydrocarbon seepage, particularly where the
Cretaceous sealing units thin onto landward-dipping tilt blocks and basement
highs (O’Brien et al, 1998b, O’Brien et al, 2000). A prominent seismic
anomaly, which probably relates to gas leakage directly from the trap (O’Brien
et al, 2000), is developed over the Cornea structure (Fig. 8a and b), and is
expressed as a zone of disrupted seismic data extending from about 400 ms to the
top of the reservoir at about 750 ms (Fig. 8b).
